The rules are for the beginners who are learning the basic how-to.
Once you know the rules, then you are ready to stretch, and finally transcend them. Great writers have 'broken' the rules-- JRR Tolkien comes to mind-- and I'd say he did ok.
However--there are a lot more writers who think they don't have to learn the rules because they are already better, they think they are natural writers. Usually, they aren't. Usually they are just impatient and/or lazy.
Blogging--It's your blog, you can make your own rules for how you want to express yourself.
