Another blogger wrote that it was interesting that President Obama would want the world to come to a city that is so mafia infested...I hadn't thought of that angle. What do you suppose would be the motivation for this? I guess it's a mute point; they didn't get it.

Re:
That's the problem. Liberals see making a fuss over something like the Olympics as being patriotic yet when it comes to defending our nation amongst many more issues they are far from the meaning of patriotic. By the way, there many Chicagoans who did not want it there and cheered and they were from all political affiliations. The fact that being glad we did not get it has nothing to do with being or not being patriotic. Stop the spin pal.

You are cheering, laughing, and happy that the Olympics will not be in the United States? Very patriotic.

CHICAGO GETS DUMPED
Obama's 11th hour rush to get another photo-op, dropped like a stone and it didn't even make a splash, except for the ones holding certain "markers" back in Chicago.  They might have something to say.    joab

CHICAGO GETS DUMPED
It appears that the Obamas, Oprah, and Daley couldn't jump through enough of those Olympian hoops to hustle the games.  joab

Re: Bush was the most worthless president.
Yeah, let me know when he starts showing it okay? What a dumbass thing to say! obama has more experience than Lincoln?!How damn pathetic a comment that was. This shows how stupid your belief system is when you actually think that anyone now has more experience than someone back then??? The damn hippies are as stupid as you can get! The hippie generation have proved to be as worthless as it gest and was a waste of time.

Bush was the most worthless president.
again, Obama had more experience than Abraham Lincoln did, so bringing up the experience thing is a non-argument.

Rio was chosen for some pretty powerful reasons.
they put 3 times the oney Chicago did into the till.

They would be the first Third World Capitol to be chosen and first in South America.

Lots of weight behind those two factors alone.

I don't think any American president would have dissuaded the committee from choosing as they did.

Rio is indeed an intriguing city...
and won on it's own merits. I applaud any nation's leader for promoting his/her country's interests, that IS a part of his/her job. The world is getting evermore competitive.
