The good news is at least is that you're recognizing the situation now for what is is. Many wait until it is too late.

I budget each month! Pay the bills at the beginning and live on what is left! It is amazing how fast these fixed incomes are gobbled up, though! But I remain happy and money can't buy that! Of course, a healthy dose would never be turned down! lol sam

I don't love to budget, either....
I think it comes with being artistic....! I am reading Sarah Ban Breathnecks (think that's her name) book, 'Simple Abundance'...what a great book for simplifying and beautifying life at the same time. If you can get your hands on this one, you will love it and not feel like you're scrimping or missing out on a thing! Budget, schmudget!

TAPS
This has been an incredible year income wise. We had a drop of over $1,500 per month. That is difficult anytime. That is not a lot of money for a lot of people, it is a very large amount for us to lose. It is very hard to indulge in the luxuries Pat B mentioned. We have not seen the bottom yet. I will not be afraid but it is sick the way our tax dollars are being spent when we have a hard time paying a water bill.

One of my friends, who is retired, lost approx $450/month because of the recession, failing investments, etc. That hurts when you're on a fixed income. I guess I`ll still be working on 12/21/2012, come what may, sigh.

Why worry?
According to Nostradamus and the Mayans, the world ends on 12-21-2012, and whatever piddly savings the stock market doesn't gobble up and the bankers don't foreclose on will no doubt stretch that far. Meanwhile, I'm going to continue to splurge on such luxuries as groceries and utilities...

yes we have over reached the budget too what with trips to
Australia (me) the new kitchen cupboards and the honeymoon cruise. It willbe a quiet Christmas and winter for us as we try despite the recession to recoup some cash by reducing the luxury spending. What a bore for us all.

you sound like me, even with my money problems I have been known to throw money away that I don't have possessions of, spend it before you have it
