Hey Bill... Sorry I have not visit lately... today I am making up for it and reading a whole bunch of your  posts... Its Bill's night around Marta's home :-)  So... in answer to your question I think its not only low price consumers are looking for when the economy is bad... its also quality ... the value of the money we spend means that we want the best we can get for the least money and Payless quality was just not good.  There are other on line stores like Zappo that offer great prices in good quality even designer shoes that will last a long long time.  Also the attitude of the employees has a lot to do with the choice of place where one shops... I am sorry about Payless and their employees that now are out of work... but that is my opinion.  Be well love and to paraphrase  Britney... "kiss you one more time " loll xoxo

Re: magic moon
There’s a lot in your comment worth, looking into. Um, I can’t find deep enough info on Repo Man. It seems that it’s like a little James Dean Meets Clerks in a wild surreal Reaganite “Me Generation” cinema romp. I want to see it. In college I learned researching papers like Lexus Nexus and the like on the Web. Thank you for sharing. BC-A, Bill’s RJJst

Re: Re: Re: Elyse
According to the corporate information of Tuesday Morning they run 750 stores across America. However I can’t locate one in my state. I like Walgreens hand sanitizer lotion love. It has alcohol but the scent isn’t as strong as other store brands and has another. They give you as many pocket face tissues as Kleenex with about the same substance. And, they give you a flexible amount of cash back with debit purchases if you need under $40.00. I haven’t been to Walmart as much. Thank you for sharing, love. BC-A, Bill’s RJJst

BC --- now I do sport Marshalls ~ and Tuesday Morning and yes, Foot Lockers.  I believe our Payless went away a couple of years in this little city.  ~ I'm one that will shop at Walgreens over Walmart.  I'm not a fan of Walmart.  Take good care of yourself BC. Elyse

...true confession: when i was young(er) i went on frequent solo-trips to mexico...i am convinced that i am one of the few to ever smuggle drugs INTO mexico (for my own consumption during my stay; so as not to get busted for purchasing same)...once when i was high, i asked for the next bus to anywhere..."anywhere" turned out to be leon, the shoe capitol of mexico...they also sold coffins on the sidewalk (as they do {or did} elsewhere in mexico)...i don't think that the shoe capitol is a typical tourist destination...all of that was 30 years ago...then yesterday i was driving with my er....uh...."niece".....uh..."friend"....whatever...she said LOOK! "All Shoes $8"...i remarked that we MUST return there on our next shopping venture....now, today, your post...it's that invisible web...yep, the invisible web...have you seen THAT scene in the movie "Repo Man"? moon

Re: Elyse
You’re welcome love. I found that Marshalls offers prices that aren’t bad for brand names. For a woman Payless has a specialized chain of stores. I wal into those! I’m a borderline diabetic but with the consequences in feet. They do have good buys in the styles at the prices for today in scale to those that my mother used to pay love. The Foot Locker’s F.W. Woolworth’s business today. Thank you for sharing. BC-A, Bill’s RJJst

I did not know this about Regis Philbin ~ I tell you that's why its worth it to a reader, to come read your blog...such keen trivia ~ and um, you had me doing the hustle with this one!  My goodness, even "Rhoda",
I thought I was the only one whom enjoyed this old sitcom.  and I just think Shakira is fabulous --- talk about hustle. LOL ~   I had not heard that Payless was to close shop - and often I do try to find the best buys, but, I am more known for convenience shopping? even online - I cannot believe that they would not thrive...
Trying to think outside the box ~ so I must go skirt 'round town now to see what I see - Have a great day, BC and Write on!!!  *thank you for your lovely sentiment this morn on my blog ~ Elyse

To make the money go round I do think 'outside the box' and I've noticed that many others do the same. One of my passions is second-hand shops; it's amazing what you can find. In the last few weeks I have found a .... Do you know I'll go no further because you have inspired my next blog, which I'll dedicate to you with full honors. Thanks for your very lovely comment earlier today.

Re: Loved the song Do You Believe In Magic as a kid
And, in the taping of the video The Ed Sullivan was live. Accordingly I would have to consider and research how it was done. But, it’s a colorful illustration of camera technique. It gives us a sense of the psycheldic mod rock mood of the late 60s. However The Lovin’ Spoonful were folk rock but hippyish. I used to think that John Sebastian was a hunchback by the way he held the autoharp.  Thank you for sharing, love. BC-A, Bill’s RJJst

I don't think I have ever bought shoes from payless! I think specialty stores can suffer the most in the recession!  I know I have trimmed way back, it isn't worth getting into financial trouble to satisfy the ego in time of difficulty! sam
