one more thing that I forgot: God does not send people to hell. They send themselves by refusing Him. So God is not resonsible for anyone going to hell, he has already made provision for escape. If you refuse it, how can you logically blame God for your decision. You said God is a jerk if you wind up in hell. Well, if He is or if He isn't, you're still in hell. Are you willing to go to hell forever just to make God look like a jerk? That does not make any sense. Logically, it seems to me that anyone who ends up in hell who did not have to go there is the jerk, not God, especially when He made a way of escape

God is very much here. His Spirit is in the earth indwelling His Body which is the Church. The REAL CHURCH mind you, not some religious bunch of windbags who don't  know God anymore than they know Marlon Brando. The Bible says that God gave gifts unto men: the Fivefold ministry gift: some prophets, some apostles, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers for the edification of His children or PARENTING of His children. If you want to really get to know the Father God, you must believe  in and accept his Son and become one of His sons. That is the ONLY way. No religion can get you there, being moral can't get you there. It must be done His way, and no other way. Even Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane asked the Father if there was another way, but there was not.You will never find your Heavenly Father unless you set your heart to find Him. He is always there, waiting for you. You know the story of the prodigal son? thats you.You have said that you would rather accept the responsibility for your sins and bear the punishment yourself. You have said you do not believe in hell. What if you are wrong? Are you willing to take that risk? We are talking about ETERNITY here. If you are right, and Jesus is not the Son of God and there is no hell, the worst thing that would happen to you is, well, whatever it is that you believe, which is not hell. So you'll be alright. You see where I'm going with this. To believe is Jesus is a win win situation for you. For what LOGICAL reason Kooka would you chose a win/lose situation over a win/win?

Kooka, I can understand why it seems that way

and you probably knew I'd say this, but God is very active.  Just because we cannot grasp him tangibly doesn't mean he isn't here.  The beginning of the world was a very different time than now.  He has a plan and he is carrying it out his way, which doesn't necessarily make sense to us because...well...we're not God.  He sees the bigger picture and we get caught up in the details.  He has revealed himself in many ways but most of us don't take the time to slow down and seek his presence.  The fact that we are still here, that life even continues to thrive on this planet, is a huge proof of his existence to me.  The Bible, which is how he reveals himself to me on a daily basis, even says that to him a thousand years is like a day, because he transcends time and matter and space.  We cannot comprehend it because of our finite minds.  The reason he doesn't speak to us audible as he did in Old Testament times is because after Jesus came, he promised us his Holy Spirit, which is invisible but speaks to us through a "still, small voice" that can only be heard in our hearts when we ask Jesus Christ to dwell there.  His voice is confirmed through Scripture, circumstances, other people, and most of all, prayer.  Do we take the time to be silent (assuming we have asked the Lord into our lives) before him?  I'm guilty--it's almost impossible for me to clear my mind of all its clutter.  I had a pastor who said that when his mind wandered, he would pray, "Lord, wander with me."  Do we earnestly pour our heart to him?  Guilty again.  Sure, when I'm in pain and everything is going wrong, but not usually on the good days.  Okay, I'm goign on and on, so I better stop...
