This analogy is also found in the yogic literature. The 'dross' must be burned away they say. In the context of this world, this means that seekers must suffer in order to cleanse. Then they can share the light. True seekers have God's guidance and do not need suffering to cleanse or emit light. Evil wishes to kill seekers then tell survivors that they were only 'cleansing'. A soul will always be a soul and not need evil. Evil will have their karmic retribution!
