- Go to CONSERVATIVE PHILSOPHY: MILLIONS FOR TAKING LIVES, NOT ONE CENT FOR SAVING
Re: Well said.
True. True. In the "old" days, possibly they were seeking mutual assurance, as opposed to "mutual insurance". Trusting your neighbor was the only insurance to be found in the early colonial times. joab

seems you are a bit of an anomaly considering your background -- many like you would be died-in-the-wool Southern Conservatives, it seems to be.

Well said.
In answer to your questions, a life is worth whatever it costs to save it. Health is a precious asset that should be shared by all citizens. The health and well-being of my child, grandchildren, and loved ones is more precious to me than my own life. But I'm not a conservative fighting the realities of the 21st century, and therein lies the problem. What I am is a veteran who grew up in the South of the fifties, survived the sixties, and seen right wingers subvert our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The founding fathers did not include a clause that said "only if you can afford sky-high insurance."

NOT ONE CENT FOR SAVING
Life is priceless; health seeks to keep balance. Neither must ever be bargaining chips for ANY POLITICIAN. I do not trust either party or its mouthpieces. To me, the left and right are co-equal and therefore equally responsible for this mess. I don't give a damn about pointing fingers, there is enough blame to go around. INCLUDING WE THE PEOPLE. When things were rosy we thought such a thing was "ever-more"; well such places and events are either once-in-a-lifetime; or else staged for the willing gullible gawkers, made to listen to the carny's spellbinding spiel while pickpockets roamed the masses, lifting here and there. NO! I DO NOT LIKE POLITICIANS - - BUT I WOULD GLADLY SETTLE FOR A TRUE LEADER WITH VISION. One who might hear the desperate cries of the veterans for the pols to keep their word. Yes, dear God, they wait and they wait until they cannot handle this tenuous reality and they end it all.
Excellent and thought provoking post. Sorry my reply was so lengthy. joab
