I remember when telephones had neighbors on the same lines, shared.
One ring for our family, two for the other family. You could listen to the neighbor's calls if you were really naughty and daring, but very few people were. You could ask them to surrender the phone in an emergency or beg them not to hog the line and prevent your getting any calls, or your being able to call out for hours. Everyone's phone number was two letters and then 5 numbers. We were EA60683, or was that my best friend's number??? we were EA60567 ??? back in the 50s. Uh oh, memory is slipping away.
We had one of the very first 'newfangled' televisions on our street. Lots of late night wrestling shows. Off the air at midnight.

If I remember right, Ariala was the first to comment on my blog. That was in Feb 2004 and there were so many of todays blogiters who were not here then.
