Last minute attempt...

As I sit in my rocking chair now

How I wish I would've played with her

Before I lost my strength to even bow !

ooops sorry I am late... :-)  Thanks you for letting me know! 

but, the voice within me , muttering softly
will have none of all that grown up talking
and keeps on whispering in my ear
"Come on...there is nothing to fear
work is always on the way :-(
don't you remember how nice it is to play?
lets have some music... a nice beat to dance around by
and the work will somehow get done
after you let me out and have some fun"

I finally came up with something! If it's not good, just nix it. I am having trouble getting into poetry of late! sammy

 

 

Anon I realize I've only done a task.

She remains frumpy; a grin I muster

and quietly ask,

"Would you hand me the feather duster?"    lol

Her words are soft and fill the air
with choruses of living
she knows that play is always there
and that time is so forgiving

She looks at me and squints her eyes

Work I still am

only now I hear a sweet song

sung by the little girl within

I  tap my feet in a little dance

work and play I know have
