If democracy is to work properly ordinary people have to rely on the main-stream media and if we cannot trust their reports, how is democracy supposed to work? Thank you once again for sending us your first-hand impressions.

elinjo, it depends
some parts of AF are safe and others are not - all related to the Taliban activity. Safe to say that most pats of the ocuntry are quite normal, unlike what the mainstream media portrays.

Thank you for sharing this remarkably interesting report. It is very rare to hear any positive news from Afghanistan, so the details about the airport, kebab bar, the abundance of fruit in the market place and the metalled roads gave a somewhat different slant on the situation. What about conditions outside Kabul?
