thank you notapoet

even in the 50's the Republican Party was composed of great statesmen -- Everett Dirksen of Illinois is one that comes to mind, along with Sen. Fulbright (I think he was Republican) of Arkansas, who, if I remember correctly, was one of only two senators to vote against the Tonkin Gulf Resolution that put us in Vietnam big time.

The title of your blog says it all.
This was not always the case.  The Republican Party was also the party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.  But that was then, and this is now.  Today's Republican Party is the most recent hidey hole of right wing hate mongers who would rather see our country go down in flames than show the least little bit of progress.  Keep the faith, and the American Dream alive.  Just thought you'd like to know that I appreciated your comment of some weeks ago and that someone else on Blogit is not afraid to stand up to right wing bullying.

Re: Re: CONSERVATIVES ARE SOBBING

Not to be disrespectful, but it's Obama and Pelosi and Reid, and all of their ilk, who are screaming for more taxes like some drunk already brain poisoned by alcohol and still screaming "Gimme more, I need more".  Which is natural.  It is their nature to want and to agitate . . . and regurgitate.   joab

BTW I do like your blog.

CONSERVATIVES ARE SOBBING

Patience.  Patience.  Our earnest friend here -- will one day admit that he was not thinking but merely " thought" he was thinking, and therefore was merely regurgitating what he had been fed, being told that the "bitter" undertaste of logic would go away "after awhile".

What can one offer such as our friend but our patience?  Joab

RSM, are you saying that "true freedom" is allowing big corporations to do anything they want -- at the cost of our lives and health?

Wow, talk about premature...! Your words will come back to burn you badly and completely discredit your political beliefs. Wonder what you will say once the government runs the internet, television and all media. Would you want a conservative president in control of all of that? I would not! I certainly do not want the worthless bastard who is occupying the White House now to that kind of control.

You liberals are strange. You hate authority but yet love government to control every aspect of your life. You must not have much faith in your self to accomplish life! This is what your kind calls 'true freedom'? Communism is true freedom? That is what you believe and what you desire. Government does need to exist but communism does not. Your political philosophy is so contradictory it is laughable.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: LOL! YOU ARE KILLING ME! LOL, LMAO!
"big government ruling our lives" is just a catch phrase for Government regulator of big business.

Conservatives make it seem an evil thing -- yet, without it, we would be in virtual anarchy, with the most powerful running thins, using people as dispensable and expandable tools toward their own profits, no consideration for health, safety, well-being of anyone but themselves.  Government regulation is necessary to curb these evils.

but, RSM, you didn't give an answer -- mainly real counter proposals, maybe made by someone you would rather see in that office.

As far as McCain goes, he probably would have set up a stimulus package similar to Mr. Obama's, since major economists, like Alan Greenspan and others said back in October that this would be necessary, that yes, it would stimulate the economy, and yes, there would be deficits down the line -- but to save the country from entering a disastrouis economic recession, it was necessary.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: LOL! YOU ARE KILLING ME! LOL, LMAO!

Anyone can do better. McCain could have done better than this bastard. You shocked me by saying that we need less control by big business. I understand fully what you are saying here but the part that is wrong is the following:

You always harp on how our freedoms are infringed upon yet you just absolutely love BIG government and government being in every facet of our lives and this is what you elected. Amazing! Liberals like yourself are always anti-authority but yet you love government ruling your lives? What are you not understanding here? I have no clue how a group of people continously contradict themselves!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: LOL! YOU ARE KILLING ME! LOL, LMAO!
all you have to do, RSM, is tell me who can do better and how

criticism without positive alternative proposals is empty.

but still, all the latest news about the economy is positive.

the choice here seems to be between a depression greater than any experienced or a national debt.

the debt would soon be a moot point with unemployment 20% or above -- many businesses closed, etc.

Personally, I think I prefer things the way they are.

except we do need less control by big business

By this response I can see your party is already at a loss of words must less talking to yourselves about the choice you made on 11/4/08. People must learn from their mistakes. We will see if America is hopelessly stupid or not come 2010.

Re: Re: LOL! YOU ARE KILLING ME! LOL, LMAO!
YOUR government does not even know what is going on and they are supposedly in control??? They just admitted that the budget will be 2 trillion more than what they thought. HA! Glad they are not doing my personal bank accounts. maybe you like it this way but I prefer someone in charge who knows what they are doing. This bunch of juveniles are lost. Don't blame me, I did not make the error of voting any of them into office.

corporate america doesn't abide by the usual polite conventions of society.

you know the point I'm making -- you are ready to tear apart Obama when the economy is fizzling.  Now . . . you don't have a prayer of a case.
