My opinion about his dream

Is that he probably watched a dark scary movie the night before. But even if he hadn't, that does affect us, books we read, movies we watched. The fact that you were in the dream shows that you're important in his life, especially since you were supportive towards him and told him you loved him.

Also, maybe he has a dark side, but you would know that more than me. Maybe he enjoys horror and violence, or maybe he is very scared of that kind of stuff. You would know sicne you know him best.
