Over here, it's almost impossible to cut down trees. Old trees have preservation orders and can only be axed if they're diseased or dangerous. See, we do like our history....

I had never heard of a fichu before (had to look it up). And be wary of “Honey, my back itches”. Where I live the stand-offs are more about preserving forest (tree-huggers and such) and just recently the government gave a private company a huge chunk of beach front and forest property. They now have the right to sell if off to developers and I think it’s deplorable (though you won't find me hugging a tree).
