- Go to So Long Steve Part 2
That is tough! I don't know who was in the right, either. I can see it from both sides, because I angrily quit a job for not giving me a day off that I had requested. I tried to switch with someone, she ended up having her baby a few days before the day. I found someone else to do it, and the manager told me that he would work, and I would work. She said that if we didn't all show up , we would be written up. So I told her I would not be back, not that day, not ever. now I'm stepping into management's shoes, and I can see it from the other side, too. It's a real inconvenience when someone can't work their scheduled shift. Part of the reason for that website is that I want to make the schedules a full two weeks in advance, so at the start of any given week everyone knows what they are working for the next three weeks. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I think this will help prevent situations like the one that your dad and Steve found themselves in.

I think it is best to let them work it out! I like how you try to stay as objective as possible! I hope they mend their fences, a 20 year friendship deserves that much! sam

There are always two sides to a story (and sometimes 3?) Anyway it's good you listened to your Dad. It's a lot clearer to me why he fired him. I hope Steve apologizes.

The sad thing is, that the longer it takes Steve to apologise, the harder it will be, until he reaches the point of no return when he's simply left it too late. Then he'll probably feel resntful and angry at being without work and so the situation escalates....

FormerStudentIntern - It's great to know that you have thought things through. Generally (not your situation) when people get involved with another's fight..it sort of makes things difficult, over-emphasised with many uncalled for thoughts and actions. I hope everything works out fine between all parties concerned. Thank you for stopping by my blog and have a nice weekend.
