Losing is only the flip side of winning
Like heads and tails it can turn just like that.

A well expressed situation, I know what being a loser feels like and it isn't a nice feeling. But he wheel does turn and losers should focus on hope and prayer I think.

Re: Right on!
This comment reminded me of  local pensioners charitable reaction to the Tsunami in 2004. These kind-hearted old ladies sat down and knitted teddybears which they sent to the Red Cross asking that they send them to Thailand. Now as it happens my son-in-law (employed by the Red Cross) was horrified by the cost of sending the teddy bears. Why, he asked, can't they just donate money so we  can buy the necessities? However it did make the old ladies very, very happy thinking of all the grateful little orphans playing with their new teddies.

How true that the less fortunate can make us feel fortunate and even though they directly or indirectly give us this “gift” we still look down on them in distain or with the thought “that will never be me”.

Ah, you speak beautifully of deepest longing, to be nurtured in our darkest hour of need.  Instead we are thrown scraps, and it's like mockery disguised as understanding.  Better to be strapped to a gurney, have rotten tomatoes thrown.  At least that way the indignity is on display openly, instead of served under the table.

By the way, I so appreciate that you stopped by my blog.  I remember you and your kindness well, and still marvel at your writing talent.

Which makes some of us lucky...
I mean if you grew up with nothing, and I mean literally nothing but the clothes on your back and if you wanted to eat you had to grow something or kill one of the chickens and in so doing you stopped the possibility of eggs next week -- then there's nowhere to go but up. A minimum wage job and an apartment in the low rent project is up. Finding a good thrift store where you can afford to add to your wardrobe is up. Having pennies to pinch is up. Now, see what you made me do? Got me thinking.

Re: Right on!
I think this needs saying. This was my first attempt at saying it but I want to turn it into something more. Thanks

Right on!
Too bad it never got sent or said long ago or recent. :) Charity, such a nice thing maybe or is charity just a way of making those "winners" feel better about themselves anyway and look better to other "winners" while they all feel "sorry" for the loser who can't make it in this world? Then again, maybe I'm all off but that's how I feel nowadays and I'm just being a jerk.
