Hm, I've never really thought of it this way.  You could be right, though I prefer to think that ghosts are indeed my dead relatives visiting me, rather than satanic minions come to scare the crapola out of me.  I sleep better at night that way.  Living next to a graveyard requires a certain amount of self-manipulation.

Anyway, you're right.  It's much better to focus on the living and breathing.

Shelly, again, most people believe this, too. I don't. I believe the

the dust of the earth + breath of God = living soul/spirit...again, this all based on my understanding of the Bible.  Once a person dies, the body turns to dust and the spirit or breath goes back to God. It doesn't live on as a separate entity.  Remember, the "soul that sinneth it shall dies."  Souls DO die.

We will have to agree to disagree on this.

I believe the dead are dead..but sometimes the dead don't realize that

they are dead.

Their souls and spirits are still trying to cross over.  They can't find the light.  So they come back and relive their lives or last moments on earth until they can see the light, especially for those that have died tragically.  The death occurs so quicky that the spirit of that person gets confused.    So, yeah, the dead ARE dead.  It's the spirit that keeps on living.

Make sense?

shelly, he doesn't have to...he's already deceived everyone I know with

this subject...he has everyone trusting their senses rather than the Word of God...as a result, people begin talking to the so-called dead, and look at TV, so many cable channels play these sorts of shows (about hauntings, etc.)  Movies too!  Believe me, it still intrigues me and I have to be careful with this subject myself!  It is a distraction that keeps people's minds occupied.  It's Satan's greatest deception...what's next?  Dead people coming back to share more deception?  Yep...they will lie about all sorts of things. My personal belief is that when Rev. 13 is in place and we are forced to choose between the mark of the beast or the seal of God, these "dead" people will come and tell us that it's okay to worship the beast and go along with man's laws and that God's Word is no longer valid, or other lies.

The main thing is this: Do we choose God's Word or the lies told to us by ghosts or by the very belief that the dead are not dead?

Anyway, like you said, you don't want to argue.  I'm saying BE CAREFUL with the occult, especially with this deception of believing the dead are not dead.

shelly, I've written about it numerous times in my religion blog and

remember you reading and disagreeing with it there, too. LOL I did lots of highlights there:

I don't have time to look them up right now, but the main texts are:

*"The soul that sins it shall die." (totally opposes people's beliefs on the soul)

* "The dead know not anything." (another verse that goes against popular belief) Ezekiel 9:5, I think?

* "The dead do not return to their homes." (goes completely against haunted houses) Psalms or Proverbs, I can't recall.

* Jesus liked death to sleep, and used the terms synonomously.

Gotta run!  Enjoy life cause death is a sleep until the resurrection when Christ returns and the Bible says the "dead in Christ will rise first."

I still don't believe that satan and his demons have anything to do
with ghosts.  Wouldn't he think of something bigger?  More effective?

shelly, yes, I do believe it's demonic activity and I have experienced
them myself through the use of Oujia boards and in dreams. Although in dreams, I think it's our own subconscious at work, with memories...but demons can affect dreams as well. The Bible makes it pretty clear that the dead are dead and the other visitors are impostors known as demons.  For details, a good study can be found here:

Do you believe ALL ghosts are satan and his demons

playing tricks on us?  My grandmother saw her sisters spirit (who died of polio as a kid) and heard her once.  Was that satan?  I don't think so.

Of course, I really shouldn't argue the point.  First, I'm not very good at arguing.  Just ask blackcat.  hahahaha

Second, I have never seen a ghost.  I just dream of dead people.
