You covered quite a few bases here. Excellent research. If one goes a step further into the acid/alkaline diet, one will eliminate all acidic foods i.e. meat, milk and by-products, sugars, starches and bad fats and oils. The alkaline diet does have its drawbacks. Kidney stones, for example, form easily in an alkaline body. The idea is to reduce toxins which lead to inflammation, mucus deposition and things like formation of calculi, tumors and cancers etc etc. Fasting is one way of restoring the alkalinity of the body.

Great article, Nita.  My daughter was a vegetarian in her teens (I am not) but didn’t take the time or effort to do is properly.  Just the other day (she’s now 25) she informed me she is going to try it again but this time, now older and wiser, she is going to research the balanced nature of a vegetarian diet.  Guess I’ll be making that vegetarian lasagna the next time she comes for dinner….

I thought this was fantastic! I am not a red meat eater but I wish I would concentrate on a more balanced vegetarian diet! You have the best info to share, Nita! Peace and blessings and I continue to pray for Ashish! Shelly

Very informative article Nita! Thanks for sharing it. Although not a vegetarian I do eat more fruit and vegetables than anything else and take pleasure in eating vegetarian food at my favorite restaurant. Thanks for your good wishes and the same to you too.

Great information Nita. Soulbuilder 101 had a simalar post in the spring about acidic food and being a vegetarian. A wise choice I am sure.

Very interesting post Nita... I learned a lot from it that I did not know.  I am a vegetarian but in my case I did the change mostly because of moral reasons...  I guess the more I thought about other species as my equals and saw emotions in them the worse I felt when I ate their flesh...  but you make many good points for vegetarianism... Thank you for your effort and for sharing this :-)  As always my prayers are with your family.  xoxoxo

Whilst this is a very interesting and informative post Nita
I have to beg to differ on some findings; as a vegetarian for almost 5 years now - I am still taking medication to keep my sugar and blood pressure levels anything near normal! Many blessings and thanks
