Sunnybeach7 - I've written a post in the past about these types of people
The "Sorry about your tough luck Christians". From flippantly condemning the vast majority of humanity to eternal suffering to harboring an undeserved sense of entitlement within their own society. These people truly are about as far away from the underlying philosophies of their own proclaimed religion as they could possibly be. Certainly there is nothing Jesuslike about someone who does not give a flying fig about others and that think the only important thing about life is being a God fan club member.

kooka_lives - Re: It's a bizarre mentality they have

It really is bizarre, mostly so because of their claims to represent the high road of worthy ideals and values. What I see more than any evidence to back their claims is a callous disregard for other members of their own society.

I agree that a lot of these knuckleheads are incapable of doing anything but following blindly.

Re: I'm glad to hear you say that Canadians have adequate healthcare

calmcantey75 - though our system is far from perfect it is premised upon a sound principle. Outside of the companies that provide supplies and equipment, profit is removed from the equation. Unlike the US system where both health insurance and health care providers work on a for profit model, the Canadian system only needs to break even to be viable.

The reality of for profit health care systems is that inevitably human life will be reduced to the ability of the individual to pay.

Gome...
This very much makes me think about a lot of the comments I had read on a site about Costcos not accepting food stamps.

Those "rich" people don't want those uneducated, smelly, drug abusing, criminal (etc.) undesirables shopping in THEIR store!

For goodness sake, they pay so much money to have membership there, why should others that don't have much be allowed to ruin the experience for them?

This issue sounds very similar to that. These people feel that THEY are deserving and OTHERS are not.  A very sad reality indeed.
How do you put a price on one's health? Something they may want to think about, but likely wont.

I can understand it coming from fundies...they already have a lot of experience with that "I am deserving and you are not!" attitude.

Re: looks like Canada health care is no different from the U.S.
Xeno-x - the only major difference is that the cost of health care is shouldered by everyone. Subsequently, no one is ever faced with being financially ruined by personal health issues.

It's a bizarre mentality they have
Most of the complaints I have seen on this issues about why we shouldn't follow the Canadian design are the same problem we have with our system, which are problems that really are always going to be there no matter what system you use.  Several hours waits are not uncommon if you get unlucky and show up at the hospitals at a bad time and no health care system is going to be able to keep that from happening.

When you look at the evidence they use, it is clear that those who oppose tech universal health care system are treating it very much like a religion and follow what they want blindly, ignoring any and all facts they dislike.  Part of that would seem to be that the fundamentalists too often take everything to the level of blind faith just because that is their nature and they are unable to break away from such folly.

I'm glad to hear you say that Canadians have adequate healthcare
since I don't live there, I have no way of really knowing, other than the frightening but ultimately exaggerated info including what you have listed in this post.

looks like Canada health care is no different from the U.S.
your list parallels what happens here in the U.S. to a "T".
