So sad. My Dad made it our mission to visit every single state park in KY and then some. My best memories.

Taps
One has to scratch their head at park closures (“they’re” doing some of the same up herein Canada- closures or opening them only on weekends, cutting back on staff, etc.). Surely there must be other ways to save a few buck versus taking away the most inexpensive holiday available to people. Duh!

Camping out at parks, water skiiing all day, waking up after sleeping down by the lake, covered with the dew of dawn.....I have so many memories of those adventures....the only vacation my family could afford each year. I hope it's not, as in your title, the end of an era......I pray it's not.

I guess we have our priorities on backwards...
All the money we can scrape together for bullets and bombs,
but nothing for recreation, for developing appreciation
of running streams and greening trees,
come on, Uncle Sam I beg you please
give back our green, our natural parks
our love of country, inspirational sparks.

I have never been an outdoors and camping person and wouldn't know how to pitch a tent. But I love oceans, beaches and wild places like the Everglades and I think it's very wrong if young people couldn't be introduced to the alternatives to milk out of a carton and the truth that there is entertainment and adventure without TV and videogames.

guess the greed is affecting the family enjoying camping and especially with gas prices so high people find things to do around your home

Times are so tough, and this is another example of that. I hope the state parks are able to reopen soon.

Camping is a great family activity. I hate to hear of so many parks
closing.
