Well, for myself...
.....I do try to bring the love of Christ with me wherever I go and let Him do His work...
I am only too aware of the sinful self that St, Paul talks about, that tries to run the show, and for over 30 years have had to learn to deal with it in one way or another so I can be at peace as God does his work through me. things are better than earlier in my life!
I see where you are coming from about life being a courtroom. For me the metaphor I have always used is a battlefield. In that picture, I am an old soldier in the rear guard, cooking meals and attending to the wounded.
I left the front line years ago with many wounds - but would go again if I felt called to it.
