Guy, your observations are excellent and to the point,
The one that disturbs me the most is that we might be losing bloggers to more visual posting sites.  I hope that is not the case because it's tough to buck the latest fad.  If they are part of the problem, hopefully we'll get some bloggers back when the "new" wears off.  Like you, I would hate to see Blogit fade away.  I think it's a good concept, and I like it here.

I always enjoy your comments, and I'm looking forward to visiting your blog and playing some catchup.

Pondering the stats, and what they might mean

  Notapoet,

Like you, I wonder what lies behind the apparent dropoff in blogit participation, lately. On the one hand, summer activities would take many people outdoors gardening, on picnics, to the beach, camping, fishing, etc. but with the recent scorching heatwave, and stormy weather across most of America, I think that many more people are staying indoors, under a roof and in front of the air conditioner, than is usual at this time of year. This would logically make for an increase of blog writing and reading, but it doesn't appear to have happened.

I don't have a countering example, for why bloggers shouldn't worry about lowered activity, for the other hand. This just makes no sense, and we can only hope that it isn't due to increased losses of veteran bloggers and fewer newbie bloggers joining blogit.

The blogs that I read are still of high quality, so but I wonder if the many video postings are steering readers away from blogit, to visual competion like Facebook, and Youtube. Is blogit losing out to the competition? Will blogit go the way of the big newspapers, a victim of diminishing returns? I hope not.

            Guy
