Flying in dreams
Sinome,
Like many of us, I enjoy flying when dreaming. I always know when I am about to go airborne, by the lightening feeling in my stomach, as I trot along a sidewalk during my dream. I can feel thickening of ground level air layers and just lay forward atop the strata of thicker air, then slide up onto the next layer, one after another. The exhillerating feeling of looking downward as the ground and astonished people slide by, below me, is hard to describe, but this is tempered during my lucid dreaming, in which a part of me is aware that this IS but a dream, but the knowledge that tree limbs, electric power transmission lines, and that there are no air brakes for a dreaming flyer, (only avoidance) and such impediments are very dangerous, is mystifying. Why can I not only enjoy, and why must I be wary, even while dreaming? I guess that awake or asleep, all experience is fraught with danger. Might this be why many of us will die in our sleep? I wonder what THAT dream will or would be about? Perhaps night flying, as my flying dreams usually are. Watch out for those radio transmission towers and their guy-wires! What a coincidental name for those wires, They must be out to get me, eventually. Ha! Ha!

What a wonderful poem--well constructed outer form revealing a rhythm of lucid imagery. Love its simplicity.

You can do it, Sinome. You can do it in your daydreams
and in your fantasies, and in your writing.
In reading you, we all fly with you.
