being offensive before they hit you . . .
Herr Bush did that with Saddam Hussein, taking a totally unwarranted military action, involving almost the entire manpower of the U.S. military, making it so, were we to have to engage in military activity other than Iraq, we would basically be unable to.
Now, imagine us taking similar action against North Korea -- it would involve a greater force and a draft the likes of which we've never seen. Out manpower and economy has already been drained by the stupidity of Iraq -- imagine North Korea.
Thing is -- YOU HAVE NO IDEA ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WHAT PRES OBAMA'S RESPONSE WILL BE TO NORTH KOREA'S ACTIONS. And it is good that this is unknown. Strategy dictates secrecy.
As I say, Kim would have to be a raving lunatic to take serious action against the U.S. That missile -- well, we'll see if NK indeed does fire it -- and I suspect that it will be shot down way before It's a threat -- a challenge like that to NK would let them know that we mean business. But I doubt that NK would risk the possible consequences of the wrong action -- that's what I mean -- unless their leaders are totally blind, they know U.S. power in relation to theirs.
Actions can be taken to counter NK's actions, no matter what, that would not involve the Iraq scenario, actions where we can let NK try to take some action -- then thwart them -- until they get the point.
All the talk and posturing is just that -- without substance or intent to back it up -- as I've said, looking for rewards like Herr Bush gave them Possibly, if it weren't for such rewards, maybe we wouldn't have to deal with them as we do today.

"unless Kim of North Korea is a raving lunatic"
Herein lies the problem between liberal thought and conservative thought. With a comment such as what you made here, proves that liberals have no earthly idea of our enemies intentions. You look at the world through rose colored glasses. Try reality for a change. This is the same type of thought obama has which is harmful to our nation. Have you ever seen a dictator or tyrant who was not a lunatic? This is a given.
Have you heard that Kim Jong-Il plans to fire a missile at Hawaii on July 4? Whether this happens or not you must be defensive and the best way to go about that is to be offensive before they hit you. However, liberals look at it as we should wait to be struck first so that we do not offend anyone. That frame of thought is pathetic and is why obama and the liberals will ruin this nation in more ways than one.

Re: Re: the axis of evil was the greatest mythology
unless Kim of North Korea is a raving lunatic, he has to be smart enough to know that he would lose any confrontation. His posturing is in expectation of some reward like Herr Bush gave him under similar circumstances. A totally empty threat.
And Iran? Of course not! In The Pacifist (I somehow suspect you haven't read my recent post there) I mention the two basic reasons for Iran's attitude & statements -- First, the formation of the State of Israel in the first place, which the entire Arab world opposed (remember? Egypt, Syria and Jordan didn't just talk about eliminating Israel, they attempted through war to do so -- but how soon we forget). And secondly a hatred born out of the U.S. supporting the Shah, a despot reportedly equal to SaddamHussein in repressive tactics.
Time and talk will defuse Iran.

Re: the axis of evil was the greatest mythology
Since you claim this is mythology then I must ask:
So, you do not think that North Korea or Iran is a threat to the world?
