aclarke - I think what you describe is a natural phase intelligent people

all go through.

I pity those who do not have doubts or more than a few questions about beliefs that in almost all cases, were hoisted upon us by our nurturing environments and maintained by a social collective group think. I was raised as a good little catholic, went to a nuthouse of a catholic primary school and then spent the following years attempting to purge my brain of all of the drivel that I was subjected to. One thing that becomes clear in time is that there are not and never have been, any human beings with any special insight pertaining to the big questions in life. Certainly not our primitive and superstitious ancestors and certainly not our modern day religion salesmen.

I can remember reading that passage from Deuteronomy in church school as a small boy and always wondered why any man would want to hurt his wife. Especially a wife who is fighting for him to protect him. Over the past year the foundation of my faith has been shaken in so many ways. I'm glad I found your blog good sir, you are helping me realize the path I have found myself on is not necessarily a bad thing.

ash_pradhan - Re: Gome...

The list of completely outdated insanity that exists in the bible is far too long to post here but I can provide a few examples:

This is the hypocrisy inherent in any religious belief that attempts to accredit words written by primitive men to a God and then insist that those words are infallable.

Gome...
I've not read the Bible, and hence am not in any position to comment, but this is shockingly embarassing, are you serious?
