kooka_lives - the answer to the question posed in the blog title is: YES
. . . and as we know, there has to be a large portion of the believing majority that are pretending to believe in God. Using the last US federal election as an example; it is simply not possible that amongst all of the potential candidates of both parties, there was not one person that was non religious, atheist or agnostic. Where politics is the art of creating a facade for public consumption and effectively rewards people for lying about what they believe, this same reward/sanction dynamic for professing belief exists in varying degrees throughout society.
