Public speaking id one of people's greatest fears!
Manda,
This fear, (nearly a phobia) is one of the commonest things expressed,by those who are asked. Being the center of attention, many speakers feel "centered in the crosshairs." Being judged harshly, one's appearance, advocating an unpopular opinion, rejection, failure, etc. are understandably stressful anticipations before a speech. It is no wonder that public speakers lock up on stage. "Flop sweat," being physically sick, hyperventilation, nervous palpitations, and so on, hit many famous people who are adored by their public, and when the entertainers go onstage and wow the audience, watchers would be shocked to learn that the spealer was ill-at-ease.
I sympathize with those who feel as though they are interviewing for the most important thing in their lives, with toilet paper stuck to their shoe, and spinach in their teeth!
