I'm back!  I wanted to add:  Really, do be careful of being left alone - you really will end up being the only bartender if they notice your competence!!  I once attended a wedding and started helping my friend bartend for the reception....needless to say, but I ended up bartending ALL night that night.  Half the time by myself - and I was supposed to be a GUEST!  lol.  It WAS a lot of fun though!!!

I've never tended, but I've sat around enough bars to know it's harder than it looks, but nowhere near rocket science. There are only a handful of drinks that are ordered a lot. Once you learn those, you'll be okay. If the establishment serves a lot of those fruity oddball concoctions with umbrellas and whatnot, well, keep those books handy. Probably the hardest part of the job will be dealing with the customers. Nothing will get on your nerves faster than sharing space with a bunch of drunk people when you're stone sober.
