I see your back kooka,
Prayer is a wonderful thing. While it is true that some "pray amiss" and pray in vain, you can't put everyone in that category.
Usually the ones who are crying are the ones who are sincere in their prayers. The Bible says that "The affectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much". Some people(who are not christians and don't know how to pray) ask for things in vain. Like better homes, or more money, or a more expensive car. I'll tell you, God wont answer such self-centered prayer, and the only prayer that God answers for a sinner is the prayer of repentance anyway.
Prayers of true saints will consist of praying for their lost loved ones, or someone who is dying with cancer and so on.Prayer works, I know from personal experience.
