I was impressed and appreciated your independence. I agree that the cliques did exist, yet as the years have passed, I have found myself as an independent from them and of them. I did not fit in because in high school I was two years younger than my classmates. They would not share the class secrets. I was 14 when they were 16. I was 16 when my senior year ended. I had raised livestock and sold it every year to scrape enough to go to college. Eventually in my forties I struggled with adversse hours and workloads to get through my doctor of education degree. Then I retired from teaching and went into testing people with head traumas with a neuropsychologist as my profession. I took post doctorate work in cognitive neuroscience at the Uni. of Texas at Dallas. I really liked your fresh approach on life. I have gone through many religions until one day I found where I fitted in between thdir church and my beliefs. Thank you for your comments.

Xeno-x - I've been called an atheist more times than I can count
All I can say to those people who are incapable of making the distinction between an atheist and an agnostic is; "thank you for placing me amongst the best citizens of our societies. It is an accolade that I do not deserve but thank you anyways for thinking so highly of me."
Of course when someone does make this erroneous reference, they are thinking in derogatory terms. But considering that anyone who would feel that calling someone an atheist is any form of insult, probably has no real idea that my response is far closer to reality than the ridiculous stereotypes they have manufactured and adhere to.
