I think Donald will most likely take it personally. That being said, I do agree that "Business is Business", especially in tough times. That's a rough situation you got going on there.

maybe he would be just as happy if your dad let him go, maybe he needs to retire but doesnt want to let your dad down

It's really impressive that a 76 year old man has the energy to go on working. I can see his point of view wanting to migrate to a warmer part of the country in the wintertime. Your posts are always a joy to read; thank you.

FSI, Running a business is easier said than done...
Tough decisions sometimes have to be made. Remember though not to build a bridge before you absolutely need it & by the same token don't burn a bridge unless you absolutely know that you will never need it. Relax, and see how it all plays out. Have a great day!
