Absolutely. That reminds me of the famous Spoonmaker Diamond which is now the centre piece of the treasury in the Topcapi palace in Istanbul. A poor man found a sparling piece of glass which he traded in for three wooden spoons. The spponmaker however recognised what he had laid his hands on, and there the story starts.
