I think I must be a lot like you.

I have been reading through your recent posts, and I find that we have many thoughts in common. I, too, am tired of the evangelical church's focus on finances and what my mom calls the "prosperity gospel." I, too, am a willing participant at church but often feel relegated to the sidelines. And I went through several years of what I now call "purifying fires." I was very ill after the births of my two sons, and it was all I could do to drag myself through the day's diaper changes and nursing. I really identify with some of the things that you are going through.

I don't think I have to tell you that God will use your sufferings to make you more like Him. But I wanted to drop you a note of encouragement and praise. You have real courage to write so openly about the things that you are experiencing and thinking. I, for one, have been blessed by your honesty and openness. Thank you.

I'd also like to offer some information that helped me with the severe joint pain that I experienced during my illness. Drinking a gallon of water daily and limiting my intake of sweets and starches did a great deal to diminish my pain. If your doctor thinks it's a good idea, maybe it would help you, too. I will be praying that God will help you through this. God bless you!
