Sorry, but I just can't agree with you on this one. By the "Let US" era, God had already created many, many angels, and it was to this extended family He was referring. (Just my opinion, which may be wrong, of course).

The very first word for God, "in the beginning, God . . ."
is Elohim, meaning multiple gods.
In John 1 -- the Greek word that King James translators rendered "him" is
"autos"
meaning
1) himself, herself, themselves, itself
2) he, she, it
3) the same
what's interesting is the statistics -- how many times the word was used for the different meanings:

It can be used for many pronouns.
