So touching Sinome..I believe too there are moments and places where loved ones are nearest the heart. You write so beautifully.

Sinome
How wonderful to have had her.....how wonderful for you to hold her in your heart and honor her....what a beautiful soul she had to have had to connect with nature so completely.  I'd venture a guess that the beauty she had inside has passed on down a generation in you....how else could you write so soulfully and beautifully if you didn't possess a very special spirit yourself.  Thank you for sharing this.....

Resting peacefully and well.

  Sinome,

I don't believe in an afterlife, but I DO feel that as long as anyone remembers us with fondness, misses our presence, thinks about us, we live on in a different form, because we are still affecting the world and our loved ones, in a subtle way. Whenever I hear about a remarkable person that I will never, cannot know, I feel bad that we never met, face-to-face.

This a wonderful tribute to your grandmother. She must have been a very wise woman to appreciate what we disparagingly call weeds and do our best to eradicate. What is more beautiful than for example a field of daisies or dandelions?

I never realized that pointsettias were actually trees; the ones we buy here are just small potted plants and they lose their leaves in no time.

Damn! This was quite beautiful and well-written.
I especially appreciate how you described the stillness of the creek and everything around when they found your Grandmother.  Very very effective.  Nice Job!
