Rights
But, my dear friend, you
don't have the right to drive a car, as is explained every time they compel a BAC test or suspend your license. And what happened to you "strict constructionists" of the Constitution. You know, when you rail against "activist judges" (you know, the ones you disagree with). The 2nd says "...the right to keep and bear
ARMS..." Don't say nothin' 'bout no bullets!

"The 2nd gives you the right to bear arms but where does it say you can buy bullets?"
I addressed that exact fallacy in the article. Kinda like claiming a right to drive but cars being banned. What's the point? Surely you don't think the Founders were that stupid, do you?
And how does your proposal deal with guns owned by criminals? Do you think their ammo supply would dry up? If they can have guns illegally, as they now do, why would they not also have illegal ammo? Or do you think they'd meekly surrender their weapons like law-abiding citizens are expected to do?

Re: Tax the bullets!!!
I'll do you one better. During his mock presidential campaigns many years ago, Pat Paulsen proposed pretty much the same thing. I'd wager that Mr. Rock is unaware of that but of history.

Re: Re: Tax the bullets!!!
Where? The magazine "Guns & Ammo" says it all; Guns
AND Ammo. The 2nd gives you the right to
bear arms but where does it say you can buy bullets? Maybe ammo should be sold in state-run ammo shops, like liquor is sold in some states. You'd have to fire a registration shot, to be kept on file, so that crimes can be traced back to the gunowner. Why don't you learn to load your own? Maybe if a few of you blow yourself up, the allure would diminish.

Re: Tax the bullets!!!
I guess the naysayers won...only that we have been saving bullets for years! The 2nd amendment gave us that right!

Tax the bullets!!!
This reminds me of the Chris Rock schtick; in which he says "We don't need GUN CONTROL, we need BULLET CONTROL! If they charged $10,000 a bullet, there'd be a lot less innocent bystanders shot.!" Seriously though, after having my pro gun-control beliefs bludgeoned for years by the truncated (look it up) interpretation of the 2nd amendment, it's nice to see it used
against the holster-sniffers. While the 2nd Amendment
may guarantee your right to "keep & bear arms",
it doesn't say you have any right to own ammo!!! HaHa!!! So "fix bayonets, suckas"!

I have mentioned this on blogit before....the ammunition strangle! Yet the data says that gun sellers are still doing a thriving business. As are the sellers of dehydrated foods and seeds. Americans are a smart breed!
