A lack of Vitamin D is one of the many things I've considered, Pat. I've even thought about buying an SAD light - but so far have done nothing about it...(such a lackadaisical attitude being one of the effects of a lack of vitamin D.) All I'm taking is Glucosamine & Chondroitin.... when I remember. I'm my own worst enemy. I'm also convinced that my weight loss is caused by a lack - of something. I'm going to do some research into vitamins and perhaps listen to Ell's advice.
In this instance, the dermatologist told me I have eczema. He gave me a prescription for cream and told me to stop taking showers, or hot tubs. Instead of liquid soap I have to use Dove. But he did agree with me when I suggested that the rash could have something to do with the weather.

On the map it looks like a dead straight line, mneme and even thinking about it has me drooling. My niece is coming to visit this year from Oz. She's doing a round the world trip. Oz to England to visit her brother, then to Canada to visit us. She then has to make another stop to qualify for the title and discount of a 'round the world trip' so she is stopping in Vancouver before heading back to Brisbane via Auckland Vancouver? The murder capital of Canada? What the heck is wrong with Hawaii?

It was traumatic just reading about it, sam444. Her husband was right behind her and saw the look on her face as she and the child went under. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

Whacky
I'm taking your advice Whacky, and eating oranges. As for the limes, I think I'll settle for lime juice.

I don't know if it's possible, but could it be Vit. D deficiency?
In northern climes we don't get enough D from sunshine during winter months, and "they" have decided the MDR of 400 units is barely enough to prevent pallegra. The new recommended amount is a thousand units a day. So I'm taking Vit. D in 1000-unit caps, along with the daily multi-vitaming (400) and two calcium tabs for a total of 1200 units of calcium, which also have 800 units of D because the body doesn't absorb calcium without D, and calcium keeps bones and skin healthy... There's no known side effect from too much except for sunburn if you absorb the stuff the natural way.

hi mac
I tend to agree with you - a nice dose of fresh air, sunshine and sunblock will work wonders. Hawaii is on a direct flight from Canada I believe...

I hope it is something simple! I am with you, time for nice weather! How horrible for a mother and child to die! It made me so sad! sam
