I just sat down and wrote it as a response to the mentioned event. He could have had such a good relationship with his son if he wanted it. However he prefers to get sympathy from his drinking mates about his mean wife and tells them how she stole his son. It is kind of ridiculous. It is the parent who makes or breaks the relationship.

That is a very powerful, beautiful and moving poem. All children deserve not just one but two strong and caring parents. Shabbat shalom to you and your son.
