Re: It had a lot to do with two things......

Well, well, mordent, what a question! I have no idea how to answer that one and I have been following politics and have been a conservative Republican all 47 years of my life (that's right even as a baby I was a Republican, lol).

I never understood where McCain came from in the polls. Back last year I would have never guessed he would be the one. McCain has always been too liberal for me. Even a moderate Republican is too liberal for me so anything below that is scum. However, I had no choice but to vote for McCain against worthless liberal liar boy with the floppy ears. I held my nose and voted for McCain. I was sad that it had come down to a race amongst democrats. The only Republican was Palin and she was VP candidate. Truthfully, I started out by supporting Thompson but all of them including Thompson never floated my boat. This was the first election that I had no one to vote for.

Maybe 2012 will be the time for Mormon from Massachusetts. I never had a problem with Mormons. That's more than we have now, even though a democrat/liberal would like for you to think they believe, they don't. I prefer a leader who believes that God is greater than just little ole him. I am a Christian and yes that is very important in my choice of politicians and there is nothing wrong with that! I just hope and pray that the Republicans can gain in 2010 in the congress then get the White House back in 2012. The oath we are going now is the wrong path.

It had a lot to do with two things......
One, from the outset McCain was the media darling in the pre-primary and early primaries.  He could do nothing wrong in spite of virtually having to drive himself around and laying off all of his staff at his low point.   Next we had Huckabee who extolled his Populist message and sounded like a true hardcore conservative, which he isn't.   Next, we foolishly agreed to opening up some of the primaries and caucases to non-Republicans.....all of these things provided just the right mix for the RINO-in-Chief to slip right by us.....

Keep in mind McCain only received 44-46% of the total primary votes...........we Conservatives will never let that happen again.

I am not sure but I think the past will reveal that the Vice President from the incumbent party gets the nod! I can't remember a time when that has not happened! I don't think that many people were familiar with Romney before the election! I can only speak for myself but his religious affiliation did not make a difference to me! I don't think people are afraid of Mormons, I live in a town that is half Mormon and and half Catholic. But Mormons are mostly in the West and live in Utah! Some of the greatest friends I have had in my life were Mormon! Who knows really! sam
