The Republican counter to the Porkulus would have created more jobs, cut more taxes, and cost far less (see http://theeprovocateur.blogspot.com/2009/01/analyzing-republican-stimulus.html for discussion). By even advocating it, they set themselves up for 2010 and beyond as being the more fiscally prudent of the two parties.
If you think it is a better idea to pay far more for grossly inferior results, then a quote from one of my favorite movies, Cool Runnings, applies: "What is wrong with you is no small thing."

If Bobby Jindal is their attempt to "position" themselves for 2012.......they're screwed. Well....they're screwed no matter what.
