I'm in complete accord ginnie.  It reminds me of an acquaintance at the gym.  He was transferred (a high level position) to our city area, from Toronto and other large cities.

"I keep telling all my colleagues what a crappy place this is."

"If you don't like it why don't you refuse to come?"  I asked.

"Are you kidding?  This is pure heaven.  The houses are half the price, even overlooking the river.  I have my own yacht in my own dock.  The scenery is awesome and the people - even those from Scotland - are fabulous."

"But why...."  I started, but he cut me off.  "Because I want them to keep feeling sorry for me and I don't want any of them to find out the truth.  We don't want any of those city dwellers spoiling things, do we?"

I'm with scotcanada Mac!
Let's keep Canada boring and beautiful!  I like that we aren't noticed too much...keep us clean!  Of course I use 'us' and I"m not there but my heart is always and forever there!

Canada is certainly a better kept secret then Scotland.  When I first arrived I couldn't believe the heat - to me Canada was a synonym for 'bloody freezing.'

Canada's Not Boring! It's a Well Kept Secret!

I'm glad that some folks think Canada is boring. Perhaps this country won't be overrun by jaded people who don't appreciate Canada's stunning, spectacular, fascinating , multi-faceted character!

Zest for life is what motivates Canadians.

The authorities have finally found a solution to the threat of mossies carrying off children - they're growing the children fatter.  So Canada is living the American Dream?  I've suspected that for a long time.

I was speaking to an American who moved here and opened a corner store.   She thinks this is heaven on earth, but then she used to live in Tornado Alley.

Agreed, sam444.  It isn't only American media that's boring; so is the Canadian media.  I also agree with your description of Canada as being beautiful and magnificent.

Howling blizzards and mosquitoes that can carry off a small child,
the Northern Lights, art, culture, at least two languages, civil uprisings, decent health care, a rational, reasonable live-and-let-live mindset, spectacular scenery, a citizenry involved in the politics of the nation, a healthy publishing industry, and some of the funniest TV programming anywhere -- that's not boring. That's what we in the lower 48 should aspire to. Well, except for the howling blizzards and big honkin' mosquitoes.
