I was informed that registering to vote guaranteed that I would have jury duty. I think that I would be o.k. with it so long as the accused didn't parallel anything that has previously occurred in my life that I have considered traumatic. I am just not sure that I could be impartial.

Good thinking!  I got the jury duty notice once, but when I called "the number" on  "the date and time" it said my group number had been execused.  I was biting my nails because I had just moved to the city from a small town and didn't know where anything was and all the big-city traffic was nerve-racking and new to me.  Hooray for no jury duty!

Yours was an EXCELLENT plan -- regardless of how ambiguous the outcome.

Jury duty isn't too bad, but I wouldn't want to do it too often.    The last time it was my turn, at the last minute the theing was settled out of court so I didn't have to go.

I also plan on limiting myself to one paragraph a pop
Hm!  Although technically speaking you have not changed your plan; I would have been tempted to have broken up the text into two paragraphs; the last one to include your escape from jury-duty. Good story though
