...not sure, to be honest, but probably.

His main beef is with the IMF and their structural adjustment programmes. They're the ones that force privatisation, break through trade barriers and ramp prices in the country in question while at the same time impoverishing farmers (as the protection of trade barriers disappears) and opening the doors for Western TNCs to pick up assets and industries on the cheap.

Damon, Glad I found this old post of yours. The points are very relevant to a national debate we have here now in Costa Rica whether to ratify CAFTA ( the Central Amer. Free Trade Agreement). Without having read Stiglitz, I would guess, by extension, he'd be against.
