Go to CONSERVATISM -- A DINOSAUR THAT SHOULD BE EXTINCTAdd a commentGo to If the Republicans keep on as they are at present,

Conservatism is a paradox.
As I understand it, the basic precept of Conservatism is a desire to keep things exactly as they are (or as they THINK they are; usually an idealized Leave-it-to-Beaver in the '50s version of reality).  However, the one constant in the universe is change; even at the sub-atomic level, atoms decay, add electrons or lose them.  Change is inevitable; how can you embrace a political belief that denies this universal truth?

One can only hope, xeno-x.

Conservatism should be a quality we each possess to some degree, to be used when the time is appropriate, protecting the interests of those less fortunate, among other things.  Sadly, the spirit of conservatism has too long been hijacked by the outdated, self-serving ideals of a political party left unchecked.
