What an achievement! I love the language, and the whole poem has a powerful spirituality. In fact, the line
"Your forms a living bridge between the Sacred Beneath and the Sacred Above" invokes an idea that is also found in Medieval Europe, in the notion of "the Great Chain of Being"...Very beautiful...

This spiritual Sioux Ceremony is quite an Epic and more...There are many parts of this that grab me. This part especially......
"With this holy Chanunpa you will walk like a living prayer with your feet resting upon the earth and the stem reaching to the sky". "Your forms a living bridge between the Sacred Beneath and the Sacred Above". ....grabs me. I'll definitely read this more then once. Spiritually fascinating and beautiful.....

Dear Shelley, I enjoyed reading this very much indeed, partly because of the beautiful language and partly because it's so important to remember and respect indigenous culture. The following is a brilliant reminder that all living things are interdependent.
Wakan Tanka smiles upon us because we are one:
earth,
sky,
all living things,
the two-legged,
the four legged,
the winged ones,
the trees,
the grasses.
Together with the people,
they are related,
one family.
The Chanunpa holds them
all together.”
Fantastic! Thankyou!
