fantastic rant! i like the stream-of-thought flow of it all. i'm not a parent, but a lot of those same thoughts were running through my brain while i watched for the first time - WHAT??? seems to be a dominant reaction. it's a powerful film, for sure, with powerful (and powerfully frustrating!!!) things to say. your honest reaction is refreshing. and encouraging. it's good to see people actually thinking about and questioning what they learn, as you are.
and again, excellent rant!

You should read his book. Some of it sucks, but most of it is mind-bending (Dude, Where's my Country? I hate that title). I went around in a deep depression for days after reading it because it was just so overwhelming.
