slam - interesting stuff
Without a doubt our knowledge of the ancient world is fragmented. We tend to think in terms of scientific discovery following a close parallel throughout all ancient civilizations, while never fully considering the isolation of those cultures from one another. The examples you give illustrate a number of interesting possibilities.
