This is a brilliant piece. I like the way you bring the shadows to life and describe how they linger in the mind twisting perception. Very accurate.

Shadows have been a source of fascination for eons and many have incorporated shadows into their writings.  Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C. said, "We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think.  When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." 
Nice poem.
