True, this. And besides, from a philosopher's point of view, saying life was Created just begs the question of where the Creator came from. And that would be even harder to find, if you were intent on looking.

Re:
Yes, that is the problem; we fight over what we should teach our children without much thought about what problems our fighting causes. And the children lose.
And I like your posts.

The thing that bothers me about Intelligent Design is it's obvious intellectual dishonesty. If one is willing to accept the position, the next question is intelligently designed by whom/what? Allah? Budda? Zeus? Odin? A gibbering mass of protoplasm from a galaxy far, far away? Nope on all accounts. With a wink and a nudge, proponents never say, but we all know it's the Christian concept of God and only the Christian concept of God.

For goodness sakes! How far have we come from the Scopes Trial? Not far enough. Even in my tiny Hebrew Day School we studied Evolution. Lots of religious Jews are scientists (just look at Nobel Prize winners!). Relgion and evolution don't have to be diametrically opposed concepts. But Creationism proponents are taking our schools back to the dark ages - and you're right; no wonder the US is falling behind in education! Thanks for commenting on my post, by the way. I really appreciate it. Mal
