Bible numerology is a fascinating study...
...including the numbers 40(rained 40 days and nights; 40 years in the wilderness, etc...) and the nuber 12(12 sons of Jacob becoming the twelve tribes of Israel; twelve apostles; twelve baskets left over when Jesus fed the crowds with loaves and fishes, etc...)

Good to point that out. Even in superstition the number 7 has meaning: break a mirror and you have 7 years of bad luck.
