Okay let me add his voice and his music aren't that great. There were more pleasing folk artists. I thought the Seekers music was nice and him going electric was sure a sell-out.
The Byrds were a little heavier than folk but great listening. I will say I thought his version of House of the Rising Sun was haunting and I'll listen to it. Knocking on Heavens Door I think was his best.
And he was much less annoying to listen to than Ritchie Havens. But like punk rock I think he was more an emblem than talent. Like the Mona Lisa, just something the music community decided to fuss over.

some people agree with you
but the overwhelming bulk of the music community will quite disagree
as do I
and by the way he doesn't give a darn about whether or not people like his voice

His lyrics could be clever but I don't like his voice. I think he's highly over-rated
